Continuing Education

Continuing Education Credits will be offered for Physicians, Nurses and Pharmacists. We anticipate a total of 11.25 contact hours of education credit. More information will be posted here closer to the meeting.

Accreditation Information

Target Audience:
This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of physicians, pharmacists, registered nurses and associated health professionals who work in the field of anticoagulation.

Educational Needs Addressed
A number of factors require anticoagulation providers to remain vigilant in their knowledge base. Specifically, the indications for anticoagulation therapies have expanded, the use of anticoagulants in special patient populations has increased, and many new antithrombotic therapies are available. This conference will deliver the newest research as well as practical, evidence-based information that attendees can apply to their daily practice to enhance the quality of anticoagulation care.

Educational Objectives
At the conclusion of Boot Camp, participants should be able to:

  • Analyze appropriate treatment by disease state (Afib, VTE, valves, prophylaxis) including patient selection & thrombophilia
  • Describe a plan for treating patients with unexpected outcomes or unusual therapeutic responses
  • Develop appropriate care plan for special patient populations on anticoagulants
  • Develop techniques and environments that enhance shared patient decision making
  • Summarize fundamentals of patient education for successful treatment
  • List relevant, recent literature pertaining to treating patients on anticoagulation therapy
  • Demonstrate awareness of complexities in transitions of care including bridging & peri-procedural care, referrals & transitions between patient care settings
  • Use methods and techniques for safe transitions of care for VTE patients treated in an ED, to home or hospital
  • Outline best practices for safe discharge of patients on anticoagulants
  • Identify patients who need modifications in treatment and develop treatment plans to accommodate necessary invasive procedures
  • Describe quality measures as they pertain to improvement in benchmarking
